Will Grier of Davidson Day moved within five touchdowns of the career touchdown passes record in North Carolina after throwing for nine touchdown passes in a playoff win over Cannon last week.
Grier's performance is one of the highlights in this week's list of National Stat Stars. Grier has 180 touchdown passes in his career and the state record is 185, set by Chris Leak of Independence (Charlotte, N.C.). Grier's totals won't be recognized as an official state record, however, since Davidson Day is not a member of the state association.
Meanwhile Jesper Horsted of Roseville is believed to have set a Minnesota state record with 19 receptions in a win over Maple Grove. The record listed on the state association has two players with 17.
