The Tate Aggies will head out on the road to challenge the Navarre Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tate will be strutting in after a win while Navarre will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Tate turned things around against Escambia on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 9-2 victory.
Peyton Womack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Womack was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Kara Wine was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Madison Smillie was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Tate hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Escambia struck out eight times.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Navarre and Gulf Breeze have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Raiders came up short against the Dolphins, falling 13-6.
Like Tate, Navarre also got a great game from a two-way player: Kayden Riddle. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Riddle was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Natalia Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nadia Rivera, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Tate's record now sits at 8-13. As for Navarre, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Tate couldn't quite get it done against Navarre in their previous matchup two weeks ago as they fell 7-4. Can the Aggies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
