The Permian Panthers pushed their score all the way to 44 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Frenship by a score of 46-44. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (32), Permian still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Permian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Juzstyce Lara. Despite the final result, he rushed for 218 yards. Lara was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Issac Herrera, who rushed for 83 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frenship to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hudson Hutcheson, who threw for 425 yards and six touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Hutcheson is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last four games he's played. Chase Campbell was another key contributor, picking up 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Permian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Frenship, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Permian will take on San Angelo Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Angelo Central is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Frenship, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Odessa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Odessa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Frenship is ranked 43rd).
