Baseball Recap: Blountstown Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Blountstown hadn't beaten North Bay Haven Academy on the road since April 8, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Buccaneers. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won five matches in a row.

Terrell Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ja'Corey Williams and Bryson Fleck did most of the damage at the plate: Ja'Corey scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Fleck scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Fleck is becoming a predictor of Blountstown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-13 when he doesn't). Tyler Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Blountstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Blountstown's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-14. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for North Bay Haven Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blountstown will venture away from home to face off against Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Bay Haven Academy, they will head out to square off against Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
