On Tuesday, Mercer Christian Academy escaped with a win against Lewisburg Baptist Academy by the margin of a single free throw, 1-0.
Meanwhile, Wyoming East came tearing into Tuesday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Bluefield 60-32 on the road. Wyoming East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
Wyoming East relied on the efforts of Cadence Blackburn, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Maddie Clark, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five steals. Clark hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Cameron, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Mercer Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Wyoming East, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Mercer Christian Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-47 loss to Wyoming East in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clark, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
