The Oswego Indians struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Prairie View Buffalos had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Oswego lost to Prairie View on the road by a decisive 55-37 margin. If Oswego hoped to take revenge for the 40-23 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Oswego's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Hutchinson, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Hutchinson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Tanner O'neal, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Prairie View found their leader in underclassman Payton Hopper, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hopper has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Sramek, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Oswego has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Prairie View, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.
Oswego on the road again on Thursday and play against Uniontown at 8:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Prairie View, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Osawatomie at 8:30 p.m. Hopefully Osawatomie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
