Lyons and the Panthers are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Lyons Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nickerson Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lyons won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 57-33 loss at the hands of Haven.
Meanwhile, Nickerson pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-58 to Smoky Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Nickerson in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylor Engelland, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Skyler Wakefield was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Nickerson were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lyons dropped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Nickerson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Lyons beat the Panthers 62-50 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Lyons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
