The American Leadership Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rowland Hall. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for American Leadership Academy in their matchups with Rowland Hall: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, American Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Kannon Huntsman, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 29 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Huntsman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Rowland Hall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Mellor led the charge by scoring 21 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Mellor scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Yeshi Tsering, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and five steals.
American Leadership Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Rowland Hall, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.
American Leadership Academy will head out on the road to challenge Draper APA at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Draper APA focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Rowland Hall, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against American Prep WV at 7:00 p.m. American Prep WV is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
