Winside has been on the road for five straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Osmond/Randolph Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Winside suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on January 5th. They had to suffer through a rough 52-19 loss at the hands of Hartington-Newcastle.
Hadleigh Schutt was Winside's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Meanwhile, Osmond/Randolph struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Osmond/Randolph fell 45-32 to Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]. While losing is never fun, Osmond/Randolph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] is ranked 39th).
Despite the loss, Osmond/Randolph got a solid performance out of Sophie Gansebom, who scored 13 points.
Winside's loss was their 12th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.4 points per game. As for Osmond/Randolph, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Monday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Winside have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Osmond/Randolph, though, as they've been averaging only 28.2 rebounds per game. Given Winside's sizeable advantage in that area, Osmond/Randolph will need to find a way to close that gap.
Winside took a serious blow against Osmond/Randolph when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 50-18. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Winside was down 30-5.
