The Prospect Panthers will head out to face off against the Pioneer Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prospect is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
Prospect's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Harker 15-0. Considering the Panthers have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kendall Tabora made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Prospect let Sydney Slezak and Dani Rauscher run wild. Slezak went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Rauscher went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Rauscher has posted since back in March of 2024. Angela D'Amato also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Pioneer fell victim to Christopher and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 10-0. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.
Pioneer saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gizelle Ortiz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Prospect's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Pioneer, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Prospect has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Prospect took their victory against Pioneer when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
