The Oglethorpe County Patriots and the Elbert County Blue Devils squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Oglethorpe County Patriots had to settle for second. Oglethorpe County fell 34-27 to Elbert County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oglethorpe County in their matchups with Elbert County: they've now lost five in a row.
Jacari Barnett was a one-man wrecking crew for Elbert County as he rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Barnett was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Terrez Allen got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Oglethorpe County's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Elbert County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Oglethorpe County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Elbert County will head out on the road to face off against Trion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trion is on a six-game streak of home wins, Elbert County a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
