Walhalla has gone a perfect 3-0 against Christ Church Episcopal recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Walhalla Razorbacks will take on the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. Walhalla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Walhalla was able to grind out a solid win over Greer, taking the game 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Razorbacks.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Carson Duncan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Christ Church Episcopal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Belton-Honea Path, sneaking past 8-6. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Bo Lowrance and Carter Phillips were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lowrance pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Phillips pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. At bat, Lowrance scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Phillips scored a run while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Alex Drake was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was JW Whisenhunt, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
Christ Church Episcopal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Belton-Honea Path only posted a batting average of .111.
Walhalla's record is now 3-1. As for Christ Church Episcopal, they moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Walhalla took their win against Christ Church Episcopal in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walhalla since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
