Blissfield has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Onsted Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Blissfield didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Bluestreaks, but they still walked away with a 68-62 win.
Meanwhile, Onsted came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 72-53 victory over Hillsdale. Given Onsted's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Hornets are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Onsted's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayden Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds. Davis has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Hill, who scored 22 points.
Blissfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Onsted, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Blissfield came up short against the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 44-31. Can Blissfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
