South Park took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Gilpin County Eagles with a 42-37 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Burros, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

When it comes to explaining why Gilpin County lost, don't look at Taurean Paxton. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field to rack up 21 points. Paxton has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Gilpin County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, South Park and Gilpin County will both be playing Conifer the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Lobos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Burros will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
