On Friday, The Mansfield Summit Jaguars got themselves on the board against the Joshua Owls, but the Joshua Owls never followed suit. They blew past the Owls, posting a 35-0 win on the road. Given Mansfield Summit's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Joshua is ranked 790th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amare Burgess was his usual excellent self, rushing for 120 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Burgess is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Mansfield Summit is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Joshua, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Mansfield Summit will be playing in front of their home fans against Ennis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ennis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Joshua, they will head out on the road to face off against Corsicana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corsicana is on a three-game streak of home losses, Joshua a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
