The Lincoln High Links will be playing at home against the Millard South Patriots at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln High is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Lincoln High pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 63-56 to Lincoln Northeast. Lincoln High has not had much luck with Lincoln Northeast recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln High saw an underclassman step up: Brady Nick scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Millard South's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. Everything went their way against Papillion-LaVista as Millard South made off with a 57-37 victory. The score was close at the half, but Millard South pulled away in the second half with 34 points.
It was another big night for Bernie Anderson, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jensen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Lincoln High has fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 2-9. As for Millard South, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lincoln High have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 18.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Millard South struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lincoln High skirted past Millard South 51-49 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Lincoln High repeat their success, or does Millard South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
