Basketball Game Preview: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. Everett Warriors

McConnellsburg and Everett are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The McConnellsburg Spartans will challenge the Everett Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. McConnellsburg is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Friday, McConnellsburg was fully in charge, breezing past Claysburg-Kimmel 64-36. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

McConnellsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominic Jefferson led the charge by going 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Jefferson has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hoyt Glenn, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and six steals.

McConnellsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Everett played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They secured a 44-38 W over Southern Fulton. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

McConnellsburg pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for Everett, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Everything went McConnellsburg's way against Everett in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as McConnellsburg made off with a 65-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for McConnellsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
