Bellevue East has gone a perfect 6-0 against Benson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Chieftains will venture away from home to face off against the Bunnies at 4:30 p.m. Benson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellevue East, who comes in off a win.
Bellevue East will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Omaha Northwest on Tuesday. The Chieftains' pitchers stepped up to hand the Huskies a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Ben Shearer was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bellevue East is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Shearer was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Connor Dolezal looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
