The Langham Creek Lobos will head out to face off against the Waller Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Langham Creek will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
On Friday, Langham Creek humbled Cypress Park with a 55-7 victory. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Langham Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jace Williams, who rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns. Dion Shields was in the mix too, providing the Lobos with two TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Langham Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Another reason for the win was Langham Creek's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Blake Long, Romeo Granados, and Jacory Shine, who each picked up one sack apiece. Langham Creek got some further help from Long: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Waller came up short against Bridgeland on Saturday and fell 38-28. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Bears are ranked 101st).
Langham Creek will need to focus on slowing down Robert Carter, one of several Waller players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Tristin 'T.K' Gaines, who threw for 152 yards and one touchdown.
Waller's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3. As for Langham Creek, their record now sits at 6-1.
Langham Creek couldn't quite get it done against Waller in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Lobos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
