Softball Recap: Mitchell Victorious

Mitchell's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Clearwater Tornadoes a 12-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mustangs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Madyson Whitaker and Savannah Toukatly made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Whitaker pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Toukatly didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Whitaker went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Toukatly went 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, MacKenzie Tucker and Sophia Cohen did most of the damage at the plate: Tucker went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Cohen went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Tucker has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisyn Midyett, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Mitchell lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearwater didn't launched any.

The victory got Mitchell back to even at 5-5. As for Clearwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mitchell will face off against River Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clearwater, they will take on Sickles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
