Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game back in January. They walked away with a 41-33 win over Sharon Springs Central.
Meanwhile, Franklin Central fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Warriors 57-52. Franklin Central just can't catch a break and has now endured seven losses in a row.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored 20 points along with seven steals. Kingsbury is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Van Dyke, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The victory got Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton back to even at 1-1. As for Franklin Central, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.
Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton came up short against the Purple Devils when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 47-36.
