The Irondequoit Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Gates Chili Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Irondequoit is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Irondequoit suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Honeoye Falls-Lima, falling 64-33. While losing is never fun, Irondequoit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while Honeoye Falls-Lima is ranked 155th).
Irondequoit's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kailey Besio, who scored 12 points, and Destynie Saunders who scored six points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-34, which was the final score in Gates Chili's tilt against Pittsford on Friday. Gates Chili has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Irondequoit has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Gates Chili, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Irondequoit didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gates Chili in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 42-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Irondequoit since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
