Bladensburg has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Northwestern Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bladensburg comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
On Tuesday, Bladensburg was beaten by Parkdale 57-14. While losing is never fun, Bladensburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Parkdale is ranked 119th).
Meanwhile, Northwestern strolled past High Point with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 30-15. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northwestern.
Bladensburg's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Northwestern, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.
Bladensburg might still be hurting after the 39-19 loss they got from Northwestern in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northwestern's Amelle Passee, who scored 28 points. Now that Bladensburg knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
