Sieana Soltero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Savana Soltero was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ciara Madrid, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as ALA - Anthem South only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Round Valley). Everything went their way against Valley on Friday as they made off with a 25-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Elks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won nine in a row.
Like Heritage Academy, Round Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Carla Arreola. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, Arreola is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Round Valley got a massive performance out of Kylar Penrod, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Penrod launched this season. Kelci Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Heritage Academy's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Round Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Heritage Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Round Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Heritage Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Round Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 14-12. Will the Heroes repeat their success, or do the Elks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
