The Eastern Eagles will head out to take on the North Oldham Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Eastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Eastern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Bryan Station, who was ranked 21st at the time (Eastern was ranked 16th). The Eagles blew past the Defenders 11-3 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Ava Newell made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
