Softball Recap: Christiansburg Has No Trouble Against Patrick Henry

Christiansburg won the last time they faced Patrick Henry and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Blue Demons blew past the Patriots 21-1. That looming 21-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Demons yet this season.

Aubrey Davis and Sophia Russell made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Davis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Russell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Davis scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Russell went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Russell has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Tyleigh Dillard was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Manieri also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Christiansburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Christiansburg and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Patrick Henry, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Christiansburg will head out to take on Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Blue Demons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Patrick Henry, they will take on Floyd County at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Buffaloes will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
