With a playoff game on the line, the Oxon Hill Clippers rose to the challenge on Friday. They didn't even let Marriotts Ridge onto the board and left with a 18-0 victory.
Cameron Azodeh was on fire: he rushed for 218 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Azodeh really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. Another player making a difference was Aaron Ayodeji, who rushed for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Oxon Hill's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Ranzy Dowe and his two sacks.
Oxon Hill has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 5-5 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Northwestern and 0-11 High Point (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 17.5% over those games). As for Marriotts Ridge, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-6.
Oxon Hill will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Hebron at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Mt. Hebron is ranked 90th, while Oxon Hill is ranked 110th). Marriotts Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
