The Albuquerque Bulldogs waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Rio Grande. Given Albuquerque's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Ravens are ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Albuquerque's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaiyah Hawley, who scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameryka Martinez, who scored ten points.
Albuquerque has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Rio Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Albuquerque will square off against the Monarchs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rio Grande, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Los Lunas will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
