Burke has gone a perfect 4-0 against Spencerville Adventist Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bengals will take on the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Avalon hit Burke with a five-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bengals took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Knights.

Max Gruber put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ray Whipple was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Ferguson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Spencerville Adventist Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 11-3 to Field last Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.

Burke has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season. As for Spencerville Adventist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went Burke's way against Spencerville Adventist Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Burke made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bengals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
