The Jacksonville Crimsons were the 55-54 winner over the Alton Redbirds when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Jacksonville took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alton on Monday.
Jacksonville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Martinez, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Martinez continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cody Fry, who scored eight points.
Jacksonville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jacksonville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Alton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Granite City the next time they take the court. Alton will head out to face Granite City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Jacksonville will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
