Softball Recap: Montour Victorious

The Montour Spartans were able to grind out a solid win over the Western Beaver Golden Beavers on Thursday, taking the game 16-13.

The team relied heavily on Shania Cope, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game. Natalie Ciamacco also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Montour's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Western Beaver, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Montour will be playing in front of their home fans against Ellwood City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Beaver, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Beaver at 4:15 p.m. on April 14.
