The Chaparral Cowboys lost against the Reed Raiders back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chaparral took a 62-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reed. Chaparral has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chaparral's loss came despite strong showings from Qualib Ghallab and Rayshawn Armstead. Ghallab dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds, while Armstead scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. Ghallab scored a full 49.1% of Chaparral's points, the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Javon Williams, who scored four points along with four steals.
Chaparral has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Reed, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral and Shadow Ridge will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Reed and Carson will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Carson is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
