On Friday, The J.L. Mann Patriots faced the Hillcrest Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. J.L. Mann walked away with a 42-35 victory over Hillcrest. The win made it back-to-back wins for J.L. Mann.
Leading J.L. Mann to victory were Mikel Mcclellan and Ethan Anderson. Mcclellan picked up 231 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Anderson threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns.
Hillcrest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Mcfadden, who picked up 203 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Mcfadden's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalab Sutton, who rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown.
J.L. Mann's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
