Silver Stage had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-19 to make it nine. They came up short against the North Tahoe Lakers, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-1 loss on Monday.
Silver Stage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Wolf, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Andreu Dubois, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for North Tahoe, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
On North Tahoe's side, Oscar Whelan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Whelan has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, North Tahoe got a massive performance out of Peter Rusek, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Rusek is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Noah Glickman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Looking ahead, Silver Stage will venture away from home to challenge Pershing County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Nighthawks surely won't give up without a fight. North Tahoe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
