This season hasn't been kind to the St. Joseph Spartans, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were beaten by Burrell 75-22 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while Burrell is ranked 57th).
St. Joseph's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of John Marino, who scored 13 points, and Gabe Maltese who scored seven points along with five rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him.
St. Joseph bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Burrell, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
