The Plainfield South Cougars came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Glenbard East 55-40. For Plainfield South, this counts as revenge for the 61-36 defeat Glenbard East walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Plainfield South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Destynia Mcgruder led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Mcgruder has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlynn Foster, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Plainfield South pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Glenbard East, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainfield South will take on Joliet Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Joliet Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Plainfield South is ranked 229th). As for Glenbard East, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Chicago at 7:00 p.m.
