The Branchville Yellow Jackets will be playing at home against the Whale Branch Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whale Branch took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Branchville, who comes in off a win.
Branchville had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Allendale-Fairfax last Friday. The victory was just what Branchville needed coming off of a 79-58 defeat in their prior match.
Branchville found their leader in underclassman Kyran Glover, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Glover hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Daniel Jennings, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Whale Branch's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Hampton County 50-46. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Whale Branch in their matchups with Hampton County: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Whale Branch saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Laron Wright, who scored seven points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradford Thompson, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and five steals.
Branchville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Whale Branch, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Branchville suffered a grim 72-51 defeat to Whale Branch in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Branchville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
