The Rogers Pirates will face off against the Colbert County Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Rogers proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Hatton 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 11th.
Chloe Thigpen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lauren Nash, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Alona Davis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hatton only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, Colbert County got themselves on the board against Clements on Tuesday, but Clements never followed suit. They blew past the Colts 10-0. Considering the Indians have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Makayli Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kylee Holland was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Faith Matlock, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Rogers' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14. As for Colbert County, they now have a winning record of 13-12-1.
Rogers came out on top in a nail-biter against Colbert County in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 16-15. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
