The Ben Lomond Scots pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 68-67 to American Prep WV. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (66), Ben Lomond still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Ben Lomond lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jonathan Alcarez. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Alcarez scored a full 35.8% of Ben Lomond's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Malakai Mack was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Ben Lomond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for American Prep WV, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ben Lomond will take on South Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for American Prep WV, they will play host again and welcome Merit Preparatory Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Merit Preparatory Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
