4A Region III District 17 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Georgetown extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 17 this week by beating Hutto, 58-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Manor took down Cedar Creek 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. TYRONE OWENS ran for 194 yards in the win.
Georgetown's dynamic duo of Jake Hubenak and Ryan Bedford proved tough for the Hippos to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hubenak threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns and Bedford had 134 yards receiving.
Jason Dean's team's Hubenak and Bedford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hubenak has thrown for 1891 yards this season, while Bedford, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 34 catches for 658 yards. Te'Rel Simmons from Elgin leads the league in rushing with 758 yards.
Going into this week's game against Pflugerville Connally, the Eagles' Hubenak needs 109 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Georgetown takes on the Cougars. The Eagles are in first place, while Pflugerville Connally is in third place.
The Mustangs led 4A Region III District 17 in scoring this week after putting up 69 points on the Eagle. OWENS in the win.
