Basketball Recap: Delta Skates Past Blackford with Ease

Delta entered their tilt with Blackford on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 56-14 win over the Blackford Bruins. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 33 points or more this season.

Jillian Barr was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. What's more, she also racked up seven blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Gracie Maurer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Delta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Blackford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylor Hedge, who posted five points. Rylee Heiser was another key player, putting up seven points.

Delta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Blackford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Delta has already played their next game, a 92-9 victory against Wes-Del on the 14th. As for Blackford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-11 defeat against Oak Hill on the 11th.
