Softball Recap: Swett Wins Going Away Against Emery

Swett's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Emery Spartans with a sharp 16-3 victory. Considering the Warriors have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Rebekah Millan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Selene Schlepp, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Jones, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Swett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Swett has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Emery and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swett will welcome Mt. Diablo at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Emery, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Making Waves Academy at 4:00 p.m. on April 8.
