Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is David Crockett's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

David Crockett never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past the Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones 8-0. Considering the Pioneers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Madelyn Dulaney made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, David Crockett got a big performance out of Bailey Dugger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Dugger a new career-high. Julie Maupin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

David Crockett has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Elizabethton, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. David Crockett will face off against Morristown-Hamblen West at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elizabethton, they will head out to face off against Unicoi County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Fighting Cyclones surely won't give up without a fight.
