After flying high against St. Mary's last Friday, the Sterling Classical Soldiers came back down to earth. Sterling Classical took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Providence Prep on Friday. Sterling Classical was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Providence Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on January 2nd.
Providence Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clark Morrison led the charge by scoring 25 points along with six steals and five assists. Morrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Asa Jackson was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.
Sterling Classical's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-3. As for Providence Prep, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sterling Classical will challenge Memorial Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Memorial Christian Academy has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Providence Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Methodist Children's Home at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
