Calais is 0-10 against Washington Academy since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Calais will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Calais' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Jonesport-Beals with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won four in a row.
Parker Cole and Kaeson Dana made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cole pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dana struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Cole earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while Dana went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Dana is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah White, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Michael Barnard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Washington Academy faced Foxcroft Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Raiders fell 8-3 to the Ponies. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Colby Moholland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Washington Academy fell to 5-1. As for Calais, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Calais has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Washington Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Calais suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Washington Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
