The Riverview Pirates will take on the Hazel Park Vikings on Saturday. Riverview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Riverview managed to slip by Allen Park the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pirates came up short against the Jaguars on Tuesday, falling 13-6. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Pirates, who until this matchup were averaging 3.92 runs allowed.
Megan Southward made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Phoebe Daniel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Hazel Park was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 11-1 to University Liggett. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Madison Platt (2026) was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Platt (2026) wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was La'Onna Otis (2026), who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Otis (2026) is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Riverview's record is now 30-7-2. As for Hazel Park, their record now sits at 9-12-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hazel Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
