The North Sanpete Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Emery on the road and fell 75-40. North Sanpete has struggled against Emery recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Cook, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Swapp, who scored ten points.
North Sanpete struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Emery got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Wade Stilson out in front who scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Stilson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Zack Tuttle, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
North Sanpete's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9. As for Emery, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.
North Sanpete will head out on the road to face off against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Carbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Emery, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Juab at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Juab is ranked 65th, while Emery is ranked 41st).
