The Empire Ravens will head out on the road to square off against the Safford Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Empire is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Empire pushed their score all the way to 73 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-73 to Palo Verde.
Despite their loss, Empire saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Deshawn Washington, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Washington hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Perkins, who scored 22 points.
Meanwhile, Safford ended up a good deal behind Pima on Monday and lost 61-46. Safford has struggled against Pima recently, as their game on Monday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Empire's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Safford, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.
Empire might still be hurting after the 60-37 loss they got from Safford in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Empire avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
