On Saturday, El Paso Leadership Academy East got the win against Las Cruces by a conclusive 8-2.
KEVIN OCHOA was excellent, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was FERNANDO CORTEZ, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Cobre waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Fighting Colts 10-2.
Niko Trujillo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Trujillo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a triple, a run, and a double.
In other batting news, Logan Crotts was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Gavin Chuy was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
El Paso Leadership Academy East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Cobre, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-1.
