Basketball Recap: Connor Lyons Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hoggard

Miller School of Albemarle's tournament run continued when they took on Hoggard on Thursday. The Mavericks took down the Vikings 73-55.

Miller School of Albemarle got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Lyons out in front who went 10-for-17 on his way to 25 points. Lyons continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Hunter, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Miller School of Albemarle was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They racked up six more assists than Hoggard's also-impressive total of 14.

Hoggard lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hunter McGrath, who scored 14 points and six assists. Porter Morgan was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Miller School of Albemarle's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Hoggard, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Miller School of Albemarle will take on Varsity Opponent at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hoggard, they will challenge Millbrook at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
